SETTING IN NORDICS
An easy to enter event for all hockey players and fans, from pros to newcomers to enjoy the game of hockey in the most beautiful setting in the Nordics, on the frozen Åre lake, surrounded by mountains.
Åre village’s legendary Après-ski and nightlife make sure that the tournament never stops. Play during the day and play harder during the night!
Pond Hockey Åre has teamed up with Holiday Club Åre as our official accommodation partner.
After signing up to the tournament, you will receive an email that contains a promotional code that gives you a discount on your bookings via Holiday Club. Pond Hockey Åre will be played for the first time on the frozen Åre lake January 8th through 10th 2026. Come join us to create unforgettable memories on and off the lake!
Getting to Åre is as easy as it gets. Either fly in to Östersund, hop on a train or taxi and be in Åre within an hour and twenty minute journey. Or, you may also hop on to a train from Stockholm.
Once you have signed up to the tournament, we will be delivering you a curated travel guide with more information on how to get to Åre and about Åre as a destination.
Rules & regulations

- All games to played in a 4 v 4 format, no goalies.
- Rink size 15 meters by 25 meters (50 ft x 75 ft)
- Team size 4-8 skaters.
- All teams to play a minimum of three games in the group stage. All the group winners and best runner-ups advance to the playoffs.
- No players allowed on the “goalie area” that is marked directly in front of the net.
- Playing time is 15 minutes, with a non-stop clock. In the playoffs, a tie results in a five minute overtime with a golden goal. If neither team scores in the overtime, a sudden death shootout will take place.
- No raising the puck above knee level.
- No slapshots.
- No tackling or violence in any form.
- Rule-infringements will lead to opposing team gaining puck control and/or penalty shots.
All you need to bring is a pair of skates, a stick and jerseys for every player.
We look to advance player safety in our event, so please keep your helmet on during the games.
Players are not insured by the event.

Q: Where are the games?
A: On the frozen Åre-lake. 50 meters from the Holiday Club Åre and 200 meters from the train station.

A: 1×15 min, continuous clock.
Q: How many players are on the ice?
A: 4 skaters per team, no goalies.
Q: How many players are on a team?
A: The recommended team-size is 8. But anything between 4 and 8.

A: Anyone with love for hockey and great times can sign up, no previous experience needed.
Q: What else is there to do outside of games?
A: You will receive a curated travel guide to Åre that has everything you need to know about the destination at a date that is TBD. Well before the tournament though.

Each team will play three games in the group stage and the group winners along-side the best runner ups will advance to playoffs under the lights of Åre’s night sky. 4 on 4 hockey without goalies. All players must wear a jersey.
